Taking the sweat out of heating

WOOF! was created following my own efforts to heat and cook only using wood as a fuel in our cottage. I found that whilst (I told my caveman self) it was rewarding to cut and stack my own fire wood, it did not always fit in with the demands of modern life, for the amount we needed; time wise, it was an arduous task. This combined with the use of lethal weapons such as chainsaws and axes, not to mention the noise, getting cold and wet and despite all the planning ahead, there was never quite enough in the log store come the bleak mid winter. I was a bit defeated so I started looking for a backup.

The next barrier I encountered was far more challenging. However strange it may seem, whenever we most needed to get (the brilliantly prepared) logs in it was always dark, cold, wet and there really was something nasty in the wood shed. Whilst it was generally acknowledged in our household that burning fossil fuels was a bad thing. If I was not around... the choice between global warming and getting the firewood (wet, muddy and covered in creepy crawlies) was a tough one.

So now with our pick and mix environmentalism put firmly to one side we successfully heat and cook using only wood as a fuel. Our "ammunition" for the wood burner and range cooker comes from the brilliant "arsenal" of wood fuels now available from this website.
