Superior, sustainable, truly scrumptious, thoroughly Dorset, restaurant-grade, professional lump wood charcoal. Trade only (but you can have it too!).
According to Friends of the Earth, 40 percent of the charcoal we use has been linked to deforestation in the tropics. Of the 50,000 tonnes of charcoal consumed annually in the UK 90% come from abroad.
Our restaurant-grade lump wood charcoal offers the finest heat source for barbecues. This charcoal is entirely sourced from sustainable forestry and exclusively from native trees in Dorset. Jim Bettle’s woodland management techniques create new habitat for wild life and an excellent high carbon content charcoal that burns hotter for longer so you can use less.
Reassuringly the charcoal still looks like bits of tree, knots and all. Unlike most mass market charcoal, this is totally free from binders, accelerators and any other additives such as coal dust or sodium nitrate used in mechanically processed factory made charcoal. So the ash is clean and safe to use as an organic fertilizer on the veg patch. Chemicals in traditional firelighters and other liquid accelerants may leach in to your food if you don’t leave long enough between lighting and loading up with grub. Save the expense of these extra items and light up fume free with proper lump wood charcoal.
Simply light up with crumpled sheets of newspaper, election literature, or dry twigs from the garden. Neglect in the early stages is the only recipe for failure. The perfect excuse to light up, sit down, and sip your cold beer, awaiting the prefect natural glow to cook on.
