The largest barrier to successfully heating your home, village hall, business etc. with wood pellets, as an alternative to fossil fuels, is the sourcing of a regular supply and having deliveries at a time and in a manner that suits you. The way the pellets are delivered, offloaded and placed in your storage area makes all the difference. After a delivery it's important that you feel able to confidently handle, stack and store the pellets as your boiler or stove requires, depending on its capacity. With these issues in mind we have developed methods to make the processes as easy and convenient as possible;

  • We are easy to pay, accepting all main debit and credit cards by phone or online.
  • We are one of the largest stockists of pre-packed wood pellets in the South West.
  • Our bags only weigh 10 kg/15kg and are easy to handle, stack and store.
  • Delivery on smaller vehicles and help unloading to your store.
  • By arrangement, collection of neatly folded bags for recyling at Bridport TLC.

The 6mm pellets are made from high Quality class 1 biomass they carry the “FSC” label for sustainability and conform to European standard CEN/TS 14961*. They are pure debarked timber and have no added chemicals or binders. They are designed to flow well through mechanical augers, suction tubes and the like. They light easily and burn brightly with a consistent heat release rate.

You can order any number of bags from us but please bear in mind that whilst delivery over £60.00 is free we need to add £9.95 for post and packing for under £60.00. The prices quoted include delivery and VAT at 5% as a domestic customer, or at 10% discount if collecting. For businesses and equine uses the price quoted will include delivery but VAT will be added at 17.5% (15% until 1st Jan 2010)

We think that the small-bagged route is the best answer from supply to end use of wood pellets for domestic customers. We can however arrange other types of delivery including bulk bags and blown and manual filling of hoppers, whatever your pellet needs talk to us, we are happy to offer friendly advice about pellets even prior to purchase of your new boiler.

Sometimes it's possible to provide this service further afield either at a cost or if we have a cluster of orders in your area. We already have customers in Cornwall, Salisbury and Bath for hand delivery. We can deliver full pallets and half pallets or less to any address in mainland UK using UK Pallets on a lorry with a tail lift. Please phone or email to discuss.

We are interested in developing innovative ways for more flexible payment and delivery for our customers, initially this might be possible with regular budget payments. Please contact us for details.

Renewable Heat Incentive

As part of the drive to reduce carbon emissions that cause global warming, the UK has set targets for using renewable energy, such as wood fuel. Heat generated from renewable energy sources currently meets 1 percent of the UK's total heat demand. To reach the first renewable energy target, set for 2020, around 12 percent of the UK's heat has to be generated from renewable sources.

This is why the Government is introducing a Renewable Heat Incentive, or RHI, which will reward users of renewable heat installations, in effect paying them to use their own heating systems. Reportedly, £860m will be made available, up to 2014/15. Although this is a 20% cut on the figure first proposed, it passed the Comprehensive Spending Review last Autumn and looks set to go ahead this year.

So how much could you be paid to compensate for the extra cost of installing a wood pellet boiler?

A small flat might use 5000kWh/year for space heating and be paid about £450 per year; an older detached house with solid uninsulated walls might use 16,000kWh/year and receive almost £1,500 annually.

* CEN/TS 335 Biomass Standards

CEN/TS 335 allows all relevant properties of the fuel to be described as well as physical and chemical characteristics of the fuel as it is. CEN/TS 335 also provides information on the source of raw materials. Fuel specifications and classes for all solid bio fuels are set out in CEN/TS14961.
